Itinerary:
DAY 1 – Lima (-)

Welcome to Lima, the 'City of Kings'. You will be met at the airport and privately escorted to your hotel.

DAY 2 – Lima city tour (B)

Morning city tour of Lima. The city has always been one of the most important cities in South America since it was founded by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535. Your sightseeing tour explores the historic quarter and modern districts of the city: the main square with beautiful buildings. The Government Palace, the City Hall, the Palace of the Archbishop and the Cathedral are still the most important places in town. You continue on to the San Francisco Monastery and then the most popular place, Plaza San Martin. Your tour ends in the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.

DAY 3 – Lima - Cusco (B)

An early morning flight brings you to the Inca capital of Cusco. Upon arrival, proceed to the hotel to have a welcome coca tea. This should help you to relieve altitude sickness. The remaining of the morning is free to relax, and slowly acclimatize. Your comprehensive afternoon tour includes the beautiful Koricancha or Sun Temple, the Cathedral as well as the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a most remarkable Inca building, the amphitheater of Kenko. This is followed by a visit to Puca Pucara, a strategically located 'red fortress' that dominates the entire area before visiting Tambomachay, with its two distinctive aqueducts that to this day continue to provide clean water to the area.

DAY 4 – Cusco Sacred Valley (B,L)

This morning we drive to the valley of the Urubamba River the so called Sacred Valley of the Inca. We proceed then to Pisaq where hundreds of visitors and people from remote communities dressed in their traditional and colorful attires meet to market and barter their products. Today, the market also has a tourist element, so there is an opportunity to buy souvenirs. Lunch will be served in a typical 'hacienda'. Afterwards, we drive along the valley to Ollantaytambo, where the Temple of the Sun (formed of six gigantic monoliths, whose total weight exceeds 50 tons) and the Terrace of the Ten Niches stand out. Ollantaytambo was the site of the only successful Inca battle against the Spanish conquerors and the only town in the area to still retain its original Inca layout.

DAY 5 – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Cusc

Morning transfer to the train station. A 1 ½ -hour train ride train takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu. On arrival a small coach take you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. Machu Picchu remained for centuries undiscovered by the Spaniards, only to be found in 1911 by Hiram Bingham. The uniqueness of its location and the genius that went into its construction make this Inca archaeological site truly one of the great wonders of the world. In the afternoon you will return through the mountainous switchback passes to Cusco, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

DAY 6 Cusco Puno (D,A) (389 km – approx. 8 hours

A pleasant eight-hour bus trip takes you through picturesque Andean landscapes dotted by small villages and herds of llamas and vicunas. Your final destination is Puno, however you make three important stops along our way: the first one is Andahuaylillas known by its baroque church dating from the 17th century. Your bus will climb to La Raya Pass (4,335 m/ 14,172 ft) to enjoy a panoramic view of the snow-capped Andes. Then your tour continues to Raqchi to visit the Viracocha Temple. This was the only Inca temple featuring cylindrical columns covered by fine clay layers. Lunch will be served in a typical restaurant in Sicuani. Upon arrival in Puno you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 7 Puno (B,L)

Our excursion by boat starts with a visit to the floating reed Islands of the Uros Indians followed by the Taquile island. Here, the indigenous community has conserved across the centuries many of the customs of the old lake population, such as a communitarian life where everything is shared. Men always seem to be walking around the island knitting the woolen caps they wear. Women weave traditional clothes, which are among the most beautiful Peru's. Here the soil with a deep earthy red color which in the strong highland sunlight contrasts magnificently against the deep blue of Titicaca lake. The backdrop of the snowcapped Cordillera Real on the far side completes a splendid picture. Return to the hotel and lodging.

DAY 8 Puno La Paz (B,L)

After breakfast we depart for La Paz. We drive along the south side of Lake Titicaca to the ancient shrine of Copacabana, on the boundary between Peru and Bolivia. On the way, we pass through the towns of Pomata, whose church is considered a jewel of colonial architecture. Once in Copacabana we visit its church and its famous “Dark Madonna”. After lunch we board a hydrofoil to the mythic Sun Island. According to the legend, the Inca couple Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo appeared here to found the Empire of the Sun. We then cruise to Moon Island to visit the ‘Inak Uyu’ Sun Virgin's temple. This is the place where the most beautiful virgins of the Incas were conserving a sacred fire dedicated to their gods. The temple can be visited only by passengers cruising on the hydrofoil and is considered to be one of lake's most important archaeological sites. Upon arrival to Huatajata, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, we visit the Andean Roots Eco Village including the replicas of the 'chullpas' or burial towers made by the Incas. Here you will also meet the Limachi brothers, the builders of the 'Ra II' and the 'Tigris' for Thor Heyerdhal expeditions and other well known scientist vessels.Full size reproductions of embarkations that have successfully navigated on the Mediterranean Sea can be spotted in the cultural village. You can learn more about the Urus-Chipayas culture and visit its mud igloos before you leave for La Paz. After the visit we will be transferred from Huatajata to La Paz.

DAY 9 La Paz (D)

Today you enjoy a sightseeing tour of La Paz. Tour highlights in the old town include the Plaza Murillo and the Jaen street featuring Spanish colonial architecture. To change scenery, your tour continues to the residential areas of Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida and ends with the visit to the bizarre Moon Valley offering a unique landscape.

DAY 10 LA PAZ – OUT (D)
